Stevie B is a harmonica virtuoso, performer, and band leader rooted in the vibrant musical traditions of the San Jose/San Francisco Bay Area. For more than two decades, he has captivated audiences with a sound that blends the raw soul of the Blues, the groove of Funk, and the laid-back pulse of Reggae.
Stevie’s musical journey began at a very young age, sleeping behind a drumset where his parents worked as local artists. At the age of 15, Stevie B got his first opportunity performing at the Juneteenth Festival as the Muddy Suns. Shortly after, Stevie B was given the opportunity to host a Jam Session at the legendary San Jose Blues Bar “JJ’s Blues”. Over the years, he has performed at festivals, venues, and private events, building a reputation for his energy, authenticity, and expressive stage presence.
As the founder and driving force behind the Muddy Suns, Stevie has guided the band since 1999, leading them to become one of the Bay Area’s standout acts. Known for their genre-crossing blend of Blues, Funk, and Reggae, the Muddy Suns have entertained crowds at countless events and remain a fixture of the Bay Area/Northern California music scene.
Beyond the stage, Stevie B is also the owner of Honey Lane Studio, a professional, musician-friendly space where he records, rehearses, and opens the doors to other artists seeking a creative environment. The studio reflects his commitment to fostering community and supporting the next generation of musicians.
Whether playing solo, leading the Muddy Suns, or mentoring artists at Honey Lane Studio, Stevie B continues to honor the traditions of roots music while bringing his own voice to every note. His harmonica reminds us how one instrument, in the hands of a true artist, can move an audience and tell a story like no other.
In addition to his solo work, Stevie B is the founder of the Muddy Suns, a Bay Area band formed in 1999. Under his leadership, the band has had many lineups. Jake Mackey, a raw-cutting edge soulful vocalist and guitarist, and Stevie B’s hard-hitting harmonica notes have made them a local favorite, for their soulful blend of Blues, Funk, and Reggae. Stevie’s harmonica and Jake Mackey’s ripping guitar gives the Muddy Suns a distinctive sound , energizing every performance and creating memorable nights for audiences across the region. “You don’t learn the Blues. You feel the Blues.”
